The Internet is today’s phone book

When is the last time you looked through your phone book?  If the answer is; I don’t even know where my phonebook is, you’re probably like millions of others who are using the Internet to find phone numbers, addresses and other tidbits of information.
The Internet has revolutionized the way we gather information.  If you forget your child’s school phone number, it might take five minutes to find the phone book, but that number can be found in a matter of seconds.
When it’s time to go Christmas shopping, and you can’t remember the address of that store that builds gingerbread houses, look it up on the Internet and you’ll be headed out the door in mere moments.
A phone book has always been a cumbersome beast, and looking up phone numbers in a city that has multiple small towns within its borders can be a nightmare.  The Internet allows people to easily access information including phone numbers through sites like www.switchboard.com.  Finding Government and City Office numbers can be even harder when looking in a phone book, but the Internet isn’t confused by Salt Lake County Courthouse, and finds that number in a matter of seconds.
If the family is tired of having Pizza from that same ‘old’ place, the Internet will allow you to look up the different pizza places within your zip code, often with reviews on the food.  Many families are using the Internet to look up the phone numbers of movie theatres and addresses of friends and family members they haven’t spoken to in years.
Why look up the phone number to Delta airlines in the phone book, when you can find the same number on the Internet in half the time.
The phone book has long been supplanted by the Internet, yet holds a valuable place in the home as a door stopper or seat raiser.
